Goals and purpose
Since 1960 the IES has been publishing the journal Razprave in gradivo/Treatises and Documents. As the only Slovene specialized journal for ethnic issues it publishes articles by Slovene and foreign experts. Summaries are published in English or another world language.
The editors welcome the submission of articles in the field of ethnic and minority studies, especially on racial and ethnic relations, ethnic identity, nationalism, xenophobia, the protection of (ethnic, national, linguistic, religious, and other) minorities, migration, multiculturalism and related subjects. The journal is particularly interested in discussions regarding ethnic and minority issues in the so- called Alpine-Adriatic-Panonnian area and all comparative studies, which include – only partially or as a whole – this geographic area. This area comprises the Alpine arc, the hinterland of the eastern Adriatic and Panonnian Basin. More technically, this area includes the following countries: Albania, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Czech Republic, Italy, Germany (especially the southern part), Hungary, Kosovo, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia. Also Macedonia and Bulgaria may be interesting cases.
Its editorial board consist of distinguished experts and top scientist, such as the famous author in the field of multi culturalism Prof. William Kymlicka, United Nations Special Rapporteur on Minority Issues Prof. Fernand de Varennes, the world authority on linguistic policies Prof. Colin Williams and many others.
All papers are subject to a double blind review procedure.
Two issues of the journal are published every year, usually in June and December.
Journal of Ethnic Studies is freely accessible on Internet, through the Digital Library of Slovenia portal: www.dLib.si.
